Founding a business and being a mum of young children typically do not go together. It breaks social expectations and starts conversations. It provokes judgement, and also encouragement. It leaves people thinking I’m crazy, or asking how I do it. At times, to be honest, it’s tough. So how does being a Business Founder and mum come together for me?
Today is Kristine's one year anniversary of working at The Grants Hub!
When we decided to advertise for The Grant's Hub first employee (Grants Researcher) we had no idea how successful the online, remote recruitment campaign would be. We received applications from exceptional candidates around Australia. We advertised online through our website, social media pages and subscriber list. We shortlisted and conducted interviews via Skype.
This week our Grants Researcher Kristine had a chat with Carissa Lockley who was recently awarded The Grants Hub's Volunteer Grant. Carissa's uncompromising dedication to voluntary work, along with her commitment to help families through her work at Ronald McDonald House was not only an inspiration to the grants panel, but also our team at The Grants Hub. Read on to learn more about how Carissa will be using this grant to make a difference in her volunteer role at Ronald McDonald House.
After reviewing our business direction for 2018, we have decided to focus on our Grants Directory and Grants Research services, rather than working with new clients on grant writing and other broader consulting services. We like to do one thing and do it well, and this decision will help us do that.
After assessing 3,098 applications for our Volunteer Support Grant, I am very pleased to announce that Carissa Lockley from Ronald McDonald House Southeast Queensland in our inaugural recipient!
